"mlstudiosonline" has been re-designed in CSS and also some basic PHP. This version 2 of the website is now being used to share my design views in terms of blog posts as well as showcasing my most recent portfolio.

The name "mlstudiosonline" is derived from the initials of my name "M" and "L". ML is also the name that I am being known in Australia. By simply taking "M" and "L" as the name of this web space, this also displays the characterisitc of my work of being based on simple and the concept of "minimalism".

Please feel free to visit my website and provide me with any constructive feedback.

About me

I am a Taiwan borned Singaporean and I am proficient in written and spoken English and Mandarin. Others include Hokkien, basic Cantonese and basic Japanese.

Since year 2000, I am significantaly involved with designed-related activitie. I undertook the Diploma of Digital Media Design for 3 years, specialising in games design at Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. At the end of my diploma, my final year project was sent for “The Crow Bar Awards 2004”. It was awarded the second for the “Games Category-International and Singapore”.

While undertaking my diploma, I also took part in the Polytechnic's Judo club. I was helping with all the publicities for the club where I designed the notice board and also created the design for the Judo club.

During 2004 - 2006, I served my National Service in the Singapore Arm Forces Film Unit as an assistant cameraman where I developed professional camera-handling skills throughout the whole service term. I was invited to participate in an overseas military event in Rockhampton, Australia whereby I was assigned to film the ‘Exercise Wallaby’.

I furthered my studies in Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia and graduated with the Bachelor of Digital Design. Digital Design might be a stranger to some of the people however it simply means having designs in digital form. Examples of Digital Design range from image manipulation, graphic creation, website design, print design, interactive design, video editing, special effects, game design, 3-D modelling and animation and etc.

Currently I am attached to Gold Coast Design Studio. Gold Coast Design Studio or GCDS is a newly start-up company that deals with website, graphic, interactive and print. In GCDS, my main respnsiblilty is to create new designs for existing or new websites and showed the designs to the client for approval. Once the designs are being approved, I would then convert them into html or php files with CSS. Beside website designs, I am also in charge of the various types of print medias such as advertisements on magazine and corporate identy items. Most of my print jobs are creating corporate identities which include creating company letterheads, business cards, gift vouchers, envelopes and folder designs. My recent works have been displayed in my recent portfolio section.

I do all most of my designs in Adobe Illustrator as I believe that my strength lies in my graphic design. The biggest advantage that I have is all my works are able to be exported for high quality print including my website layouts. My design philosphy is based in minimalistic approach which transform into sleek, clean yet professional design that convey artistic ideas through digital art.
